These 5 Types Of Sneakers Are The Most Essential You'll Ever Need

There are some sneakers that I wear far more often than others. And to be honest, I think we can boil it down to five essential pairs.

These are the five types of sneakers for men and women that are worn the most, and with these in your wardrobe, you can pretty much cover all of your bases in terms of styling options.

  • White Minimal Sneakers
  • Dad Shoes
  • All Black Sneakers
  • High-top Sneakers
  • Statement Sneakers

1. White Minimal Sneakers

Aside from the fact that White sneakers have transcended mere footwear and evolved into a cultural phenomenon, they have proven timeless and captivating to fashion enthusiasts, celebrities, and everyday individuals alike.

The main reason for this is because of;

- Versatility For Outfit Pairing: Whether paired with jeans, a t-shirt, or a sophisticated suit, white sneakers seamlessly integrate into diverse fashion aesthetics.

- Seasonal Adaptability: White sneakers effortlessly transition through seasons. They add a nice contrast to dark winter outfits in cold seasons. While in warmer seasons they evoke a sense of freshness and lightness. This adaptability makes white sneakers a year-round wardrobe staple

Are they always the absolute best possible choice for a given outfit? Of course not. But white sneakers will rarely make an outfit look bad which is why they're first in line in my list of essential sneakers.

2. Dad Shoes

It's no secret that dad shoes have been at the forefront of fashion trends these past few years, but I would say they are more than just a trend now. They have made a huge resurgence and claimed a good spot in many people's wardrobes.

Here’s why:

When it comes to Dad shoes, the range of styles available is wide; from chunky to colourful to futuristic.

In terms of styling, Dad shoes naturally go well with casual outfits, especially the ones leading to the sportier side.

For example sweatpants and an oversized tee but I would say that It is best to experiment with less common pairings.

For example, I think that with the right outfit, you can pull off dad shoes with looks that lean more formal.

3. All Black Sneakers

The reason why I love all-black sneakers so much is I feel like they're the black swan of sneakers quite literally.

We often associate black leather shoes with more formal shoes like Derbie Bros monk straps loafers boots. But sometimes you just want to go for that sharp all-black outfit while still keeping it casual with sneakers and that's where the all-black sneakers come in.

I wouldn't say it's as versatile of colour as white, but it is very much one of those sneakers that will come in handy quite often especially if you enjoy it.

With a casual yet elegant look, black inherently has that elevating effect, making any outfit look more elegant.

4. High-Top Sneakers

In general, high-top sneakers are paired better with crop trousers or any pair of pants that you would cuff to show off the sneakers.

Typically, they can add an edgy vibe or, when styled differently, suit a more retro look.

Whatever your style, high-top sneakers can find a place in your wardrobe especially when worn with cropped or cuffed pants.

5. Statement Sneakers

Statement sneakers are the type of sneakers you wear when you're confident and not afraid of drawing attention to yourself, hence showing how much you love your sneakers and how much you want to show them off.

You can make a statement either with the colour of your sneakers or the design of it or even both.

It's often a good idea to tone down the rest of your outfit especially when your statement sneakers of choice have highly bright colours like purple, pink or blue.

Although people like to go bold and clash with different bright colours in the same outfit, most people prefer the route of letting one statement piece shine and in this case - the sneakers.

In Summary

White Minimal Sneakers: This is by far the most versatile option it's a good default choice and it pairs well with the majority of outfits.

Dad Sneakers/ Dad Shoes: Great for casual sporty looks, but don't be afraid to be creative and experiment by contrasting with other different styles.

All-Black Sneakers: This is perfect for all-black looks and a great casual alternative to the typical black leather dress shoes.

High-top Sneakers: The high top is the most preferred option for cropped trousers and is also a very versatile option.

Statement Sneakers: These are most useful when you want to be bold and you can never go wrong by pairing them with neutral colours.
